Do-it-yourself Photography for Ads, PR, and More
Free SCORE Seminar at ICC Polk Campus
If you are running a small business or non-profit organization, or thinking about starting one, you know that advertising and other communications are necessary investments for building awareness and customer preference. If you can do your own photography for all of it, the less the expense. And, the better you do it, the greater your return on investment.
“Do-it-yourself Photography for Advertising & PR” is a free SCORE workshop on Thursday, May 16, 6 to 8 PM at Isothermal
Community College, 1255 West Mills St., Columbus, NC.
SCORE Mentor Vince Verrecchio and lightly retired advertising photographer, art director, writer, and agency owner will condense more than 40 years creative experience into a basic workshop on his 7 Cs. He has shared these in previous seminars, but this time the emphasis will be on applying them to advertising, flyers, posters, and PR. And note, Camera and Computer are not one, but they do help
1. Creativity is all about making connections.
2. Content is what’s in the picture including the most important element.
3. Composition is arranging content to fit your layout.
4. Color includes optimizing black and white for newsprint.
5. Contrast adds depth, drama, and differentiation.
6. Cropping brings emphasis in your layout.
7. Concept is the message you want to communicate.
This is a non-technical program that applies to any camera, phone, and skill level. Vince will also show WHAT can be done with computer programs so participants know what to look for when learning on their own HOW TO retouch and enhance digital images.
Anyone interested in DIY photography for a business or non-profit organization can register at the workshop, but pre-
registration is greatly appreciated online, by e-mail, or call.
